ABOUT "V" RIDE PLATE

Shred Master's "V" bottom ride plate design was born in the Surf of the California and Hawaiian coastlines in the 1980's, due to basic needs positive turning control and immediate direction of the watercraft in large surf conditions.  Since all other prior ride plate designs were commonly flat a few slotted, there was a real need for a new unique design that 100% produced the functions desired.  This is the first ever known "V" bottom ride plate, additionally "Modified-V Progressive Dihedral Angled Ride Plate" as guaranteed by two Granted United States Patents!  Which were only allowed after a relentless search of all worldwide prior-art twice.

   FIRST TESTING

Surf Riding allowed this first ever "V" bottom ride plate to be tested in the most demanding conditions, steep vertical shafts and extremely rough aerated waters.  The first prototype ride plates were quickly fine tuned due to these life threatening and treacherous waters along these coastlines.

Although in 1990 shortly after the first Shred Master "Surf Performance" first of its kind "all-in-one" combination intake grate and "V" ride plate was available for the 440-550JS Kawasaki, quickly many ocean riding racers became aware of the tight turning capabilities and other enhanced functions this "V" bottom ride plate design had to offer.  Once tested by first hand racing, the "V" bottom ride plate's potential was clearly visible.

Outside of the common basic needs, elimination of porposing, more stability, and control of hull hunting, numerous other high performance functions this ride plate offered were only obviously.  The holeshot was ballistic, a faster sweeper turn that held a tight-line on the buoy, and the ride plate carried faster speeds through the turns.  Further, the plate produced a much needed  positive tracking-line, which held a line as straight as an arrow.  Plus to top it off, as needed in close-coarse racing, the ride plate cut right through rough water, as they say "like a knife passing through hot butter".  Once checked on radar, it was clearly revealed, there was an extreme increase in acceleration right from the holeshot and more coming out of the turns than going in.  Furthermore, top speeds were averaging well over 2 mph faster, simply by bolting on a ride plate.

All these increased functions were due to one major fact, a patented "V" bottom surface with a transitional increase of the "V" surface as it extended towards the tail of the ride plate.  This increasing "V" down pressure on the water allowed to a degree, a hydroplaning lift effect, in turn more acceleration and overall top speeds due less hull resistance.  Plus (and best of all), the apex of the increasing "V" allowed for positive direction of the watercraft in all water conditions, (no tail sliding, no hull drift, and no hull hunting due to incorrectly designed chine's).  To top off the design all that was needed was an intake grate that would not restrict the water flow to the center of the impeller, or over pressure the intake port to the pump, which causes back-pressure (an out-of-control tail lifting down pressure explosion)!  On the first small watercraft it was accomplished by a fully foiled (like a surfboard fin, somewhat aircraft wing) intake grate, incorporated in combination with the ride plate as one molded piece.  This further eliminated cavitation gaps, aligned the two, and supported the hull boss inserts by a 7 bolt connection.

Following the first two 440-550JS models "Surf Performance" and Officially Race Legal", many other models followed over the next 10 years of intense testing.

Manufacturing A Shred Master  Along with the many months of prototype testing during the R & D stages of a Shred Master ride plate, the finished quality of each Shred Master has always been of highest concern.  To accommodate the time needed to build each as a custom ride plate, the designer first isolated manufacturing to one product, "V" bottom ride plates.  This way Shred Master is not a company that is scrambling to be a manufacture that is trying to come up with ever aftermarket bolt-on product needed for a customer!  Also since Shred Master builds only custom handcrafted ride plates, no corners are cut just to be the first on the market.  At Shred Master the designer specializes only in one proven design "V", not changing each year to follow some other competitors design because last years didn't work!

Furthermore, numerous quality control inspections are done during all stages of production to assure a geometrically straight ride plate.  With bolt holes that do line-up, (strong drilling jigs) and plates that don't rock-an-roll on flat surfaces.  There are already too many companies out there that expect you to straighten their ride plate by you bolting it up to your watercraft (but there goes the hull inserts).  Also, Shred Master is the only ride plate manufacture in the business that hand tunes every ride plate to perfection before it is shipped out.  Ride plates are multi-times sanded and  finished with a fine grained surface.  By focusing on these standards this gives Shred Master the advantage needed to research, test and custom hand produce the highest quality and the most multi-functional ride plate in the world!   And that's a many time proven fact over the past 11 years!

   Bottom-line to our customers!

This ride plate is "absolutely NOT" just another commercial aftermarket knock-off "Pump Cover".  It is not made from low quality aluminum, then ball burnished to make it shinny or power coated just to hide imperfections.  It is not marketed by only large flashy ads or by offering retailers large profit margins to dump it on you!  A Shred Master ride plate is made in the "old craftsman's way", it is hundreds of hours of Research & Development time spent to create an original and unique custom handcrafted "V" bottom ride plate.  That will positively increase the handling characteristics of your PWC, in no matter whatever the water conditions!  Just ask yourself, can you really feel a difference in the ride plate you are riding on now, especially when you first bolted it on after removing your stock one?  Well here is a ride plate that you will positively know you're riding on in the first 50 feet!

Until now, the best kept secret in the industry!
