The Beginning This is where it all started, and for many riders still the best turning ride plate ever built, especially for surf riding. And now the Blast From The Past is back once again. Surf Performance was designed to be the tightest turning ride plate ever built. It has excellent tight turning capabilities at all speeds, bottom turns, cut-backs, off-the-lip, floaters, air-drops, and loves down-the-line tight tube riding. Further, the plate has lightening quick control in fast transitional turns especially in highly aerated water (quick turn right, immediately back left). And excellent for landings from aerial reentries and especially high jumps, "V" bottom design splits the water on impact. Extreme Intake Grate Hook-up, by a fully foiled patented intake grate design. No square 2 x 4 block of wood design to create water resistance, or trailing edge air traps bleeding air into the pump! Just one fluid stream of water, directly to the center of the impeller. This incorporated intake grate is fully foiled (like a surfboard fin) additionally it comes with a deeper primary scoop. With the combination of increasing "V" towards the long tail on this ride plate it allows for extremely faster planning time, and allows the boat to ride flatter and more parallel to the water surface. Faster Speeds Due to this ride plates unique lifting effect, created by a transitional increase of "V" from its front to tail water contact surface. The increasing "V" down pressure on the water allows the ride plate to a degree, to hydroplane the 550 hull (ride higher out of the water), in turn this reduction of water contact allows for less water resistance to the hull. This patented utility of hydrodynamic design in turn produces faster acceleration and faster overall top speeds for the 300SX - 440JS - 550JS-SX. Race Legal Model This ride plate quickly followed the Surf Performance model, due to the fact the IJSBA understandably would not allow fins to race on the bottom of a ride plate. Fastest Holeshot on the market, as proven by many boat lengths, time and time again! Ballistic speed right from the start, created by a unique lifting patented "V" bottom design! Along with better impeller hook-up an a highly functional foiled intake grate, all combined on a long tail ride plate, "ALL-IN-ONE", this allows the ride plate to have faster holeshots, and faster acceleration speed out of the turns. On plane in less than 2’ feet, and faster out of the turn than in. The Legendary Randy Laine Warning, practices is needed to ride this stand-up "V" bottom ride plate. This ride plate is a directional ride plate! In other words, wherever you point the 550, it will immediately go, no hesitation (NO Wandering)! Also due to the fact that the turning of the 550 has been increased by about 10 times more, you will need time to learn to trust the "V" design and lean deeper in the turns. Although once trained in tight-line riding, after about one week for some more for others, you will not want to ride a 550 without a Shred Master "V" bolted onto the bottom!
